Enneagram results.

After taking the Enneagram personality test and getting my results back, it has come to a conclusion that I am Type Two, a helper. According to the test a helper is someone who must help others and be loved, or as the world's view: people depend on my help. An overall statement would be I must be helpful and caring to be loved. At 9types.com it describes a healthy loop and unhealthy loop of becoming or being a type two person. It states that with being a helper, you crave being loved, or in love. By receiving that love, you come out to others to help them with any situation, and by doing that you have created love for yourself and with the person who you have helped. Unfortunately it did say that when a helper is not helping others or being loved, their desire to feel that way increases. It can cause Type Two's to feel resentful and may even manipulate others to love them.
So after taking this test and getting my results, do I think that I am a helper? In many ways I completely agree with this personality test, but in others I do not. I would have to describe myself as a care giver. I do help people in need, and even sometimes I care more about other people's problems then I do myself. If I would have taken this personality test a couple years ago, I would fit into the category perfectly. According to, Baron and Wagele - Enneagram Made Easy, they stated that helper's are warm, concerned, nurturing, and sensitive to other people's needs. Exactly what I was, a few years ago, but over the period of my freshman year in college I have made a few changes to make myself happier in the way I want to be, and I believe I'm changing for the better. So overall, this test was correst in some ways.

  1. Remember that a lot of the descriptions tend to describe "average" traits. A type 2 can often put other people's needs before their own. However, when they learn more about themselves and how to be better, more productive people, they discover that they need to take care of themselves. Sounds like this is just the kind of self actualization process you've been going through. So that is good!

  2. The nines have very similar healthy and unhealthy loops. With the nines it's all about union, which is a little more all encompassing than the more intimate and personal idea of "Love". It stated that a healthy nine loop involved acceptance of others that comes from a need for union. Our fear of separation, though, could lead us into creating false unions with people who only seek to use us. Interesting stuff. I can see some of these negative traits in my own life. These are also things I've been trying to work on, but it seems difficult to recognize a false union from a real one. Perhaps the difference lies in how much effort the other side is willing to put in. Very informative writing here. I dig the extra research too. I'm sorry to say I only stuck to the suggested sites, though I did venture outward to find what sort of celebrities shared my type.

  3. Terra, I see a lot of the number two in you! I see you as a very helpful person as well as sensitive. I know its hard to read that you may be very dependant on other people's love-but that's ok. This number doesn't define you. You probably do have some traits of the number two as well as maybe a trait from every other number as well! I do think that number two is a good number to be if you stick with your career choice of being a nurse though :)
